#30BBM Day 1 - Personality Assesment

Ok so I'm catching up on my posts for the Be a Better Me in 30 Days challenge. Yes it's not too late to sign up and get started. You can find the post for the first few days on Celestine's blog so catching up is totally manageable at this point. If you're looking for an exercise in self improvement give it a whirl and see what you think. You will never know what you could have learned about yourself until you try. With that said here we go on Day 1.

Day 1 – Assess Your Personality
Your Task: Assess Yourself

The first task of 30BBM is to assess your personality.

1. If you were to rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 (in terms of your personality), how much would you rate yourself? Would you give yourself a 1? Would you give yourself a 10? A 3? A 5? A 7?

I would rate my personality a 6/10.

2. Why did you give yourself the score in Q1?

I rated myself a 6/10 because I do feel I have room to grow. I am far from being perfect but I do believe I have learned some good personality traits throughout my life. I enjoy learning new things and working to be a better person.

3. Now, write down 5-7 traits about yourself you want to work on.

Ok if I had to pick some traits I would like to work on eliminating here is what I'd pick...

~ Procrastinator - Yes this is definitely something I do tend to do. If I don't have to get it done now I tend to let things slide as long as they can. I can say I am getting better at this because I am learning ways to cope with being a procrastinator but I still feel I need to work on it.

~ Indecisive - It could be deciding what to eat, where to go or what to do but I am terribly indecisive. I know that it's good to be flexible and open but when you seriously can't make a decision about things that don't matter it can be a pain. I'd like to not worry so much about what others thing and be confident in my decisions.

~ Self Doubting - It kind of ties in to the whole being indecisive thing but it's also separate. I always have found it funny that I can easily cheer others on to accomplishing their goals but for myself I tend to doubt that I can accomplish some things. Or sometimes I think I can do something but I'll doubt the process and start thinking on it's never going to happen. It will be good to work on having some serious self confidence and making my own dreams come true.

~ Detached - Something I've learned about myself recently is the fact that I can be perfectly content to be by myself. I don't mean just enjoying some alone time but at times I really think I could be fine just by myself. I know this isn't true because I enjoy my friends and family and I could never imagine my life without Joe. It's just an odd trait that sometimes shows up in my attitudes towards things that I would like to change. I would like to create meaningful relationships with others and enjoy life.

Day 1 Reflection for 30BBM

Is there anything you learned today? (Be it about yourself, or about other things. This can be related/unrelated to the task, inspired by answers by other participants, inspired by the discussions in the community, or due to something that happened in your life today, outside of 30BBM.) If so, what is it? Write it down. 

It was enlightening admitting some things I would like to work on. Of course at first it was like great I don't really want to admit to these things that are not my best traits but in order to learn and grow I do feel you need to acknowledge the things you want to change. It should be an interesting journey to Be a Better Me.
