The Chang(e)...

I actually have a funny button that says "Be The Change" on it at home.  The funny part is the font was too big so it cut off the "e" at the end of change so it looks more like "Be the Chang".  I think it's funny but that's beside the point...

"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
~ Mahatma Gandhi (Indian philosopher, internationally esteemed for his doctrine of nonviolent protest, 1869-1948)

I feel the time is right for change!

It's time to change bad habits into good ones.  For example I crack my nuckles far too often.  I have heard it's bad for you and well maybe it is, maybe it isn't...  It's like smoking.  Some people will get cancer and die and some will live to 98.  You never know.  Cracking my nuckles could do nothing to me long term but in case my hands should turn gnarly and stiffen up it's probably best I stop.  So the other day when I was out I bought this little gem:

It's supposed to be good for your hands.  You're supposed to squeeze it for 30 seconds and then release and do it again.  I personally like to roll it between my fingers, squish it around and toss it a little to keep my hands occupied.  It's helped so perhaps this whole replace a bad habit with a good one works.  :)  Plus I like that it has an inspirational thought on it.  Good times...

So regarding change here's the thought for today...

If you could have anything you want, be anything you wanted to be, go anywhere you wanted to go...  What would you do, what would you be, where would you go?  Would you live in a mansion in Beverly Hills or a 50 acre farm in the middle of Ohio?  Would you travel the world or buy an RV and drive around the US?  Would you own your own Fortune 500 comapny or would you become an elementary school teacher?

If you knew you could not fail what would you do today?

Seriously...  What would you do...

Think about it...

So much of our lives is spent making other peoples dreams a reality.  So much of our lives is spent worrying about things we can't change instead of changing the things we can.  So much of our lives is spent doing things we don't really like because we're too afraid to step out and do the things we truly love to do.

I feel that in each and every person there is something we were meant to do while on this earth.  It might be big, it might be small, it might be creative, it might be logical.  We each have unique talents and abilities that are meant to shine and bring joy, light and love into this world.  I feel when you reach into your heart and do what you're meant to do your soul will open up a space for others to do the same.  When you succeed you let everyone around you see that they can do it to.  When you live your dream you let others know they can too.  No one ever said it would be easy but I feel when you live your true life's purpose it will be worth it beyond your wildest dreams.

Don't wait for more money, more time, to get older, to move, for the kids to grow up, to have kids, to get married, to get divorced, to finish school, to get into school because there is never a "perfect" time.  You'll always find a reason why you're too poor, too tired, to old, too young, etc...  Start TODAY working on the things you need to do to get you closer to the life you want to liveCloser to the dream that you want to make a reality.

I highly recommend reading The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson.  You can find out more about it on the website HERE.  You can also find them on Facebook HERE.  If you've read self help books, attended seminars, webinars, conferences, listened to CD's/tapes, watched DVD's and still not had the results you were looking for the Slight Edge is the philosophy that can help you utilize the information you learn so that you can create the life you've always wanted.

Don't forget to dream big!  If you could do/have/be anything in the world what would it be?  Really honestly ask yourself that and see what you come up with.  Living an authentic life true to your talents and abilities will create happiness beyond measure.  Don't be afraid to do what you were put on this earth to do!  Check out my favorite song right now in the video below.  It's seriously worth it because it has a great message!

  1. Heather! I love this post!! I have been really feeling like this for a while now, I just don't know what it is that I have to offer or that I am put here to do. I am trying to figure it out.

  2. YAY!!! Glad you enjoyed it. Definitely check out the Slight Edge but the other book I'm currently going through is The Success Principles by Jack Canfield. It actually has a small group study guide that you can download to go with it and I'm really hoping to lead a group starting in the new year. I like it because it is broken down into small chapters which make for easy reference in the future and there are plenty of real exercises and questions you can go through that can help. I had heard about it before but never read it and then a friend of mine sent me Principle 2 - Be Clear Why You're Here. I loved it and wanted to read the rest of the book so I got it. The same friend actually is a life coach and she is wonderful to work with. I'm actually looking at doing one of her programs... You can check her out at http://www.beechrissy.com/. :)

Good luck though! Finding your lifes purpose and then living intentionally to fulfill it can be challenging but I believe that when you find your purpose and pursue it with all your heart you will find joy and happiness beyond measure. :)
